BLDG Memphis is a Membership organization, made up of nonprofit community developers, advocates, individuals, community-based organizations, government entities, and anyone else who supports the revitalization of Memphis neighborhoods. 

Types of Community Development Organizations

Community Development Associations

Mobilizes support for community development organizations working to build more equitable and vibrant neighborhoods.

Community Development Corporations

Place-bound non-profits, usually run by volunteer boards that emphasize physical redevelopment to rebuild communities devastated by capitalist disinvestment.

Community Based Organizations

Organizations that provide or subsidize programs and services for a specified group of people and place that are more efficient, culturally aware, and geographically convenient than those offered by various levels of government.

Community Development Financial Institutions

A financial institution that aims to expand economic opportunity and revitalize neighborhoods in low-income communities by providing access to financial products and services for local residents and businesses.

Choose Your Membership Plan

A Community Development Organization Member in BLDG Memphis is open to nonprofit organizations whose principal purpose is community development, and who have a state charter, their 501c3 designation from the IRS, and a board of directors that includes input from the community the organization serves. Voting members are encouraged to send a representative to all regularly scheduled member meetings and will be entitled to one vote in each matter submitted to the membership. All members are expected to maintain high professional standards.

An Associate Member may be any individual, organization, or government entity that is committed to the goals of community development. Associate members are encouraged to send a representative to all regularly scheduled member meetings and are expected to maintain high professional standards.
