Join BLDG Memphis Tuesday, February 1 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. for our virtual Pizza with Planners event- Transit Equity Day: Demystifying Transit Funding. This town hall event will feature speakers from the Memphis Area Transit Authority, the Bus Riders Union, Memphis 3.0 and the Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action and Hope. This event will break down how transit is funded at the local, state and federal level and will discuss local initiatives we can support to increase resources for Memphis.
This event is a part of many events around the Memphis area by BLDG Memphis, the Sierra Club, MATA, and Memphis 3.0 that will lead up to Transit Equity Day on Friday, February 4. Transit Equity Day is celebrated on Rosa Park's birthday in honor of her refusal to give up her seat as a tactic to protest the unfair Montgomery transit system during the civil rights era. Transit Equity Day is a national initiative and collaborative effort to promote public transit as a civil right.
