BLDG Memphis's community development book club will tackle the issue of housing in urban cities as we read and discuss Dr. Andre Perry's book, Know Your Price: Valuing Black Lives & Properties in America.
In an analysis of six major black cities across America , Dr. Perry reveals the web of historical and contemporary socioeconomic barriers that maintain the racial wealth divide. Through personal narrative, history, and an exploration of a wide array of social issues, Perry gives a fresh insights on the historical effects of racism and provides a new value paradigm to limit them in the future.
This is the first of two sessions.
We will discuss the Introduction & Chapters 1-4 .Roshun Austin, Executive Director of The Works will moderate the discussion.
