Neighborhood Collaborative for Resilience

2018 NCR Grants Request for Proposals

BLDG Memphis, through the Neighborhood Collaborative for Resilience (NCR) initiative seeks to fund North Memphis-based community development work that focuses on solutions to issues through the lens of racial equity, health equity, and climate resilience. The work funded will have lasting positive impacts within the NCR Focus Area (see Exhibit A). The NCR Grants are part of a focused effort through the Strong, Prosperous, and Resilient Communities Challenge (SPARCC), to address continued disinvestment, top-down development decisions, and a lack of broader resident engagement throughout the focus area. The opportunity is intended specifically to:

  • Improve health, housing stability, economic stability, and resilience for families within North Memphis;
  • Support existing community organizations, leaders, and partnerships in moving forward collective work that advances racial equity;
  • Build capacity within North Memphis for community-driven work focused on collaborative partnerships and community engagement; and
  • Cultivate replicable models for deeper community engagement.

Grants will be made only to support projects as identified in the NCR 2018 Work Plan (see Exhibit B) and applications must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be used for a project that benefits a North Memphis community within the NCR focus area (Exhibit A).
  • Must be submitted by an existing organization or by a group of community members as defined in the NCR Governance Structure (Exhibit C), not one single leader.
  • Applications must be made by a nonprofit or in partnership with a nonprofit fiscal sponsor that has a proven track record of success in past projects. No grants will be awarded to individuals.
